This book is a great resource for anyone who is a caregiver as well as professionals who work with children, youth, and families. You will gain insight into how valuable your role is in the care and support you provide to a child growing up with their father.
The book also includes a chapter on Father Engagement & Fatherhood Reimagined
Whether you are a caregiver or professional serving children, youth, and families, know that your voice matters!
It will take all of us being intentional on a consistent basis to think creatively and improve how we engage fathers. Even when communication issues and other challenges arise, there should still be reasonable efforts made to involve fathers as part of case planning, team meetings, court hearings, etc.
Reimagining fatherhood requires collaboration—with the children, youth, and families we serve, as well as the broader community, the child welfare system, and other organizations/systems that support fathers. Together, we can shift the narrative around fatherhood and ensure every father has the tools and care he needs to thrive in his role.
This book profoundly changed my perspective on fatherhood and healing from my own fatherless wounds.
